THE FAYRE

Join us for all the fun of the Carnival Fayre at Gostrey Meadow this year! The riverside venue is a more relaxed, safer and larger area than our previous Castle Street location. This meant that our last Carnival – back in 2023 – we had a record number of stalls and the people of Farnham and the surrounding area came in their thousands to enjoy it all in the sunshine.

The Fayre runs from 2.00pm until 9.00pm and for much of that time you’ll be entertained from the stage by terrific bands, both local and from further afield, in a wide range of musical styles. There’s always a variety of food stalls and drinks tents to satisfy all tastes and all age groups. And there is also a large children’s play area, including entertainers who’ll keep the younger visitors fully entertained.

With all this, we can guarantee that there’ll be something for everyone – truly all the fun of the Fayre!

1545 True Deceivers

The True Deceivers will be celebrating their first 20 years in 2024 and looking forward to the next 20! Since forming, the band have been developing their own distinctive brand of roots rock and Americana, mixing fiddles, mandolins and guitars with high energy arrangements and tight vocal harmonies, and incorporating a growing catalogue of original songs.

Their unique style has been forged from their earlier work with much loved bands such as Eat the Sofa, the Blazing Homesteads and Plenty, and this good-time feel has made the True Deceivers regular favourites at festivals across the UK.

In 2019, the band released their long-awaited third album, My Own Highway, a mere seven years after the well-received Hell or High Water. They have promised that the fourth album will not be as long in coming. Mind you, that’s what they said last time…

1700 RATTLING CATFLAPS

The Rattling Catflaps have been rattling around Surrey and Hampshire for over a decade, delivering their own blend of groove and grunt with a cheeky grin. They love jangly melodic guitars, vocal harmonies, bolstered by a glorious rhythm section.

The style varies from atmospheric ballads, through boppy indie pop, to solid rock. Be sure to wear your dancing socks!

The name? Inspired by Dave the cat, who got so excitable he ran through a catflap and took most of it with him, leaving the rest rattling in the breeze.

• CALLING ALL STALLHOLDERS •

Roll, roll up and get your stall space here! We only have around 40 non-food stall spaces available each year and around 6 food stalls and spaces are taken up quite quickly. We try to minimize stalls offering the same type of products in order to add variety and avoid competition for stall holders, so you need to get in quick – because when they’re gone, they’re gone!

If you would like to make an enquiry regarding a stall space, please contact jane.langton@farnhamlions.org.uk
